Definition Films is a young video production company in Santa Rosa. About five years ago the founder, Justin Liddell, asked if they could film me building a violin. They collected hours of video over 17 days of shooting….and then everything went quiet. Despite the pandemic they got extremely busy with their regular work and the “passion project” was put on hold … until recently. Dusting it off and finishing the edit, they posted the video and submitted it to a video-short competition, where it took Gold!
For me this video is a like a very personal snapshot of my life. It’s the sights and sounds that I see whenever I make an instrument. Thanks Justin!
That was such a beautiful compendium of all the talents and skills that go into this wonderful avocation! It was wonderful to see such a skilled practitioner of lutherie demonstrating the ancient art. As a hobbyist restorer for the last 20 years, I have no delusions of attaining anything close to your mastery, but it certainly something to aspire to!
